Junkyards and salvage yards in Georgia

20 mapped yards across 18 Georgia cities, 5 of them self-service - plus the number the listings never give you: what a yard is likely to pay for the whole car.

What a yard pays in Georgia

Know this before you start phoning around. A yard buying your car as a unit is paying for the recyclable metal in it, which follows weight, plus whatever it expects to resell from it. Anything far below this range deserves a second quote.

What a yard pays for a whole car in Georgia

Clean title, catalytic converter still on the car, no crash damage. Regional scrap basis $150 - $180 per ton, as of 2026-08.

VehicleTypical range
Small car, will not start$250 - $420
Mid-size sedan, will not start$295 - $490
SUV or minivan, will not start$400 - $670
Full-size pickup, will not start$505 - $845

Estimates from our own model, not offers, and not quotes from any yard on this page. Our own estimate of what a whole scrap car fetches per ton in this region - not a live per-state quote and not a mill index. A yard that has to send its own truck for the car will usually pay less than one you drive it to.

Georgia paperwork, from the state's own source

A licensed yard cannot take a car without a proper release of ownership, so the paperwork matters wherever you sell. This is the Georgia rule, with the source attached.

Georgia no-title rule

Any Georgia vehicle owner other than a licensed dealer must obtain a title in their own name before transferring ownership, where the vehicle requires a Georgia title. If the title is lost, apply for a replacement (Form MV-1, $8 fee) at your County Tag Office. Confirm your own case with the Georgia MVD.

Certificate this state issues

Salvage Certificate of Title. Georgia has no separate consumer 'certificate of destruction', and note that the scrapped-vehicle route is NOT a no-title route: O.C.G.A. 40-3-36 requires the owner to submit the vehicle's original Georgia title, issued in their name or properly assigned to them, to the MVD Salvage Unit, which cancels it

Georgia plates

Georgia's Form T-158 is the state's form for reporting and surrendering a license plate, and O.C.G.A. 40-2-20 requires a plate to be surrendered when the registration certificate is not available. The plate itself must go in with the form to your county tag office. The form also says not to surrender special or prestige plates. Ask your county tag office what to do with an ordinary plate when the car is junked.

Would rather not phone round Georgia yards?

No phone number needed - you go straight to your offer from our partner Peddle, and we earn a commission if you sell to them, at no extra cost to you.

Georgia questions people ask

It scales with weight, and with whether the catalytic converter is still fitted. For a whole car that will not start with a clean title, the table on this page gives our Georgia estimate for four vehicle sizes, from a small car up to a full-size pickup. Treat it as a yardstick for judging an offer rather than as a quote - a yard that has to collect the car will usually pay less than one you deliver to.

About this list. Locations come from OpenStreetMap (ODbL 1.0), snapshot 2026-08-23. OpenStreetMap is a volunteer map rather than a licensing registry, so the Georgia list is a real but partial list - there are yards operating that nobody has mapped yet, and a listed yard may have changed hands or closed. We have not verified any yard's licence, and a listing here is not a recommendation: some may buy parts only rather than a whole car. Phone before you drive out. Cities are ordered by how many yards we have mapped, and yards within a city alphabetically. We do not accept payment for placement on this page. Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors.
