Affiliate disclosure

We make money when a reader sells a car through a partner link. Here is exactly who pays us, how, and what that does and does not change.

Last updated June 10, 2026

The short version

JunkCarValue.com is free to use. We are paid by car buyers, not by you. When you follow one of our offer links and go on to sell your car to that buyer, the buyer pays us a commission. You pay nothing, and your offer is not reduced to cover it.

Which buyers pay us

These buyers currently pay us a commission, and the offer buttons on this site go to them:

These buyers appear in our comparisons but pay us nothing. We have no link with them, so we earn the same whether you use them or not:

How much we are paid

Our agreement pays a share of what the vehicle sells for, after the buyer's costs. It is not a flat referral fee, and it is not a percentage we set. In practice the amounts are small: at the time of writing this site has earned tens of dollars in total, not thousands. We mention that because a disclosure that hides the scale is only half a disclosure.

What this does not change

  • Your offer. The buyer quotes you the same number whether you arrive through us or type their address in directly.
  • Our estimates. The dollar ranges on this site come from our own valuation model, described on how we calculate your offer. No buyer supplies, reviews, or approves those numbers.
  • Who we list. Nobody pays for placement in a comparison or in the junkyard directory.

How our comparisons are ordered

Where we rank buyers for a particular car, the order comes from each buyer's own stated specialty for that condition - not from payout, which we cannot observe, and not from what we are paid. When our own ranking puts a buyer first that we have no link to, we say so on the page rather than quietly routing you elsewhere.

Why we spell this out

US Federal Trade Commission guidance on endorsements (16 CFR Part 255) requires a clear and conspicuous disclosure of a material connection close to the recommendation. We think a buried footer line meets the letter and misses the point, so the disclosure also appears next to the offer buttons themselves, before you click.
