About JunkCarValue
We started JunkCarValue because selling a junk car should not feel like a trap. Here is what we do, how we make our numbers, and what we will and will not promise.
Why we exist
Most junk car sites hide the price behind a form and spring a lower number on you at pickup. We built the opposite: a calculator that shows you an estimated value range with the full math before you share any contact information, and a network of buyers who honor their written offers.
How we make our estimates
Our estimates are built from transparent inputs - recyclable scrap weight, the catalytic converter, and a parts-and-demand premium for cars worth more than their metal. We use a maintained vehicle weight table and a publicly anchored scrap-price estimate, and we label every number as an estimate rather than a quote. The full method is on how we calculate your offer.
What we promise - and what we do not
We are honest about our role: we are a lead service. We give you a fair estimate and connect you with vetted buyers, but we do not own the tow trucks or pay you directly. So we focus on what we can control - honest math, education against lowballing, and favoring buyers who include free towing and pay before loading. Read our Price Lock guarantee for the details.
Our editorial standards
- Every price input is shown, sourced where possible, and labeled an estimate.
- We publish ranges, not false-precision single numbers.
- We tell you the downsides - salvage titles, missing converters, flood history.
- We keep guidance current as scrap prices and state rules change.
